11 Amazing Tweets From Madeleine Albright

Ever since she started tweeting in September, the first female Secretary of State has excelled at social media. She's involved with her followers, keeps up with trends, and knows a picture is worth a thousand characters. Also she has a first name handle, the crème de la creme in the Twitter world. She makes it all look effortless, even when she answers to 59,000 followers. Of course, it's nothing compared to handling the United States.

Parks and Admiration Yesterday Amy Poehler was Emmy-nominated for her role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation. Knope expressed admiration for Albright in the show, so Albright's congratulations was particularly fitting. In one episode, she considers not dating a man because he doesn't know who Madeleine Albright is. "Wanna hear something awful? He didn't even know who Madeleine Albright was."

Madeleine Still Believes Before USA's game versus Belgium, Albright tweeted a photo showing she plays hard in red slingbacks--matching both her poppy brooch and Blackberry case.   

Kick Like a Girl Here she is cheering on Team USA again, this time with puns and ice hockey champion Angela Ruggiero.

Pinternational Affairs Albright's pins are the subject of a book, Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat's Jewel Box, and she has displayed them at Wellesley College, her alma mater. She told Smithsonian Magazine about her diplomatic accessory: "On good days, I wore flowers and butterflies and balloons, and on bad days, all kinds of bugs and carnivorous animals. I saw it as an additional way of expressing what I was saying, a visual way to deliver a message."
