Another Reason to be Excited for 2015: Sarah Silverman's New Show

If 2014 saw the rise of women-led TV, 2015’s going to mark a rocket launch. While shows like Girls and VEEP will continue, some of our favorite creative minds are launching new projects. In August, filming started on Tina Fey’s new show “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” a show about a young woman who escapes a cult to start a new life in New York. Ellie Kemper plays the title role, while 30 Rock vet Jane Krakowski is her Upper East Sider boss.

And now, Variety reports that HBO has ordered a pilot for an as-yet-untitled comedy starring Sarah Silverman as a “pathologically honest woman having a modern mid-life crisis.” The pilot was written by Lucy Prebble, a British playwright best known for her TV show, “Secret Diary of a Call Girl,” and is executive produced by Silverman, Ash Atalla (producer of The Office), Amy Zvi (producer of Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles), and Dan Hine.

Considering that Silverman is pretty much incapable of being boring, we’d place our bets on this pilot. 2014 has been especially great for the comedian, since she won an Emmy for 2013’s HBO comedy special “We Are Miracles,” and gust starred in the second season of “Masters of Sex” as well as starring in the indie film “I Smile Back,” which will debut at Sundance in January.
