Candice Huffine's Latest Shoot Once Again Proves That Style Has Nothing to Do With Size
By Leah Melby
The newest issue of CR Fashion Book is hitting newsstands just about, oh, now, and there's a beyond stunning spread including plus-size model Candice Huffine that everyone's going to be talking about.
Titled "One Size Fits All," it presents Huffine and sample-size model Kitty Hayes wearing many of the same pieces (albeit styled more boldly on Huffine with corsets and garter belts on proud display).
The images make a strong statement on their own — women's bodies of all shapes are gorgeous — but the tiny bit of copy accompanying the story also gets its message across succinctly. "Whether you're size 4 or 14, your style is relative only to your confidence." Yes, ma'am!
"Nobody mentions size or the plus world or anything on those kind of sets," Huffine told Glamour about working with legendary fashion editor Carine Roitfeld and shooting Lane Bryant's buzzy black-and-white campaign with photographer Cass Bird.
"The first time I met Carine, she said, 'What is this word that they call you in America? What kind of model are you?
This word is so crazy. I just think you're beautiful.' I’ve been in the plus industry for 15 years, and now, I have a foot in another world too. I'm part of the high-fashion world and I've seen that they're super accepting. There is no two sides. It's not like Westside Story. The two will live harmoniously soon — it's just a matter of time."
Another one of Huffine's buzzy forays into the high-fashion world? Posing in this year's Pirelli calendar, an iconic tribute to all things sexy.
