Ellen DeGeneres' Tribute to Obama Is All the Feels
Over the past eight years, MAKER Ellen DeGeneres has danced with and grown close to the Obama family. She has expressed extreme gratitude towards Barack Obama for his bravery legalizing gay marriage and for allowing her to marry her now wife, Portia de Rossi.
“His courage and compassion created equality for everyone," DeGeneres expressed in an Ellentube Tribute.
Although having only appeared twice on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" — once when he began his run for president, and another in 2016 — their relationship shows great respect and friendship.
" love him. I love Michelle," DeGeneres said.
Her nearly five-minute video tribute shows the laughter through the years with the Obamas, and captures some of their most memorable moments together.
In November, Obama awarded DeGeneres with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her advocacy in the LGBT community.
The video ends with an edit of Obama leaving the State of the Union Address with a mic drop and throwing his speech in the air.
"Thank you for everything President Obama and First Lady Michelle! We will miss you so much," Ellen said, ending the clip.
