Forbes Announces the World's 100 Most Powerful Women

Today Forbes released its World's 100 Most Powerful Women list. Topping the list, were German Chancellor Angela Merkel (No. 1), Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen (No. 2), and philanthropist Melinda Gates (No. 3). 

MAKERS like Hillary Clinton (No. 6), Sheryl Sandberg (No. 9), Susan Wojcicki (No. 12) and Oprah Winfrey (No. 14) also earned spots.  In total, 12 of our MAKERS made the prestigious list!

The women listed come from technology, political, business, finance, media/entertainment, and philanthropic industries. More than half of the powerhouses are from the Americas (58), while Asian and Southeast Asian makes the second strongest appearance, represented by about a quarter of the list (23).  Nine of the women run nations, 28 reign over major corporations as CEOs, 13 are billionaires and 18 have founded their own companies or foundations.
