Game, Set, Match! Talking Tennis with Martina Navratilova

With the U.S. Open in full swing, we sat down with upcoming MAKER and tennis legend Martina Navratilova to talk a little tennis.

Navratilova is the most successful female tennis player of the Open era, amassing an unmatched number of professional records over the course of four decade career. She's won 59 grand slam titles, including a record 9 Wimbledon singles championships.

Now retired, Navratilova has a great deal more perspective on women and the game then she did as a 16-year-old who barely spoke any English when she made her debut at the U.S. Open. It was the same year Billie Jean King would go on to beat Bobby Riggs in the "Battle of the Sexes" match. At the time Navratilova just viewed it as another game saying "I didn't see it in the context of women's rights, women's equality. Of course that match just took on a whole new dimension." Today, she has much stronger opinion on that particular match.
