New White House PSA Delivers Simple Yet Powerful Message On Sexual Assault

In September 2014, The White House introduced its anti-sexual assault campaign, "It's On Us."

In a new PSA titled "One Thing," celebrities like actress Zoe Saldana, musical band HAIM, "Orange is the New Black" star Matt McGourry and others make an appearance. The message focuses on a simple yet vital message: "Without consent, sex isn't sex. It's rape."

You can watch the new PSA below:

According to The Huffington Post, The White House said that the "It's On Us" campaign has started at more than 300 schools, and that 220,000 people have taken the pledge to end sexual assault on college campuses.

One year after its initial launch, the campaign now has 90 organizational partners.

Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to President Barack Obama, spoke with HuffPost Live recently and said that The White House encourages every college campus to create their own campaigns. She also mentioned the PSAs are rolling out throughout September during “Red Zone.” This is a six-week period around the beginning of fall semester when female students are most likely to be victims of sexual violence.

"As they're coming onto college campuses, we want to use that to highlight awareness of this issue," she said.
