Jane Austen to Grace the Ten Pound Note!

In exciting news, the Bank of England has provided a computer generated mock of what the new design on the 10-pound note will be: Jane Austen!

The bank received criticism that they had ignored female candidates to be featured on British currency. The controversy spun into full swing when the bank announced it would replace the 19th-century social reformer Elizabeth Fry on the five-pound note with Prime Minister Winston Churchill. While Churchill is a much revered World War II figure, the change would mean that no other women besides the Queen would be represented on British currency. Fortunately, the bank listened to the backlash and delivered in full with the 18th century beloved author of classics such as Emma, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility

"Jane Austen certainly merits a place in the select group of historical figures to appear on our banknotes," the bank's new governor Mark Carney said Wednesday in a statement.
