MAKER Carli Lloyd to Take Soccer Break Before "Getting After It Again"

On Sunday, Carli Llyod scored two goals in her final game of 2016 – contributing to the United States' 5-1 comeback victory over Switzerland.

According to espnW, Lloyd is taking a temporary break from the national team to concentrate on getting married next month.

She met her fiancé, pro golfer Brian Hollins in high school and they both played on the school's soccer team. After 15 years together, Lloyd and Hollins are ready to tie the knot.

In an interview last year with Team USA, Lloyd shared why now is the perfect time for her to get married. "Brian is in the golf business and November is kind of a slower time for him. I'll have the World Cup and the Olympics behind me, and we'll be able to enjoy the time together."

She also said she doesn't plan on being a "bridezilla" because her and Hollins are "pretty low-key."

Lloyd sums up the year as a good one, and an ultimate learning experience.

"For me, 2016 was good," Lloyd said. "Could I have been better? Absolutely. I think everybody can always be better than they think they were. But now it's about getting married and taking a little time off and rebuilding and getting after it again."

After Lloyd takes some time to settle in as a newlywed, she and the women's U.S. soccer team will be back to work on unfinished business.
