MAKERS Cheers On Mo'ne

She's the first girl to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series, and the first Little Leaguer to land on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Though her team lost on Wednesday night, the game attracted the largest audience for the Little League World Series on ESPN

"Last week, this week, maybe next week, she's owned the sports conversation," Chris Stone, SI's managing editor, said. "How often do you get to say this about a 13-year-old girl? It's the easiest type of story to identify as a cover story." Mo'ne hopes that if she lands another cover, she'll be wearing a UConn basketball jersey--she plays both baseball and basketball but loves the latter sport more.

This kind of coverage hopefully means that in PE classes everywhere, boys will start complimenting each other by saying, "You throw like a girl!" We're so inspired by Mo'ne's display of strength and focus, and we can't wait to see what she does next.
