MAKING HISTORY: Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Becomes First Latina in Congress

In honor of Women's History Month, we are celebrating with 31 days of women's history! Every day in March, we will highlight an historic moment, as told through the personal stories of our MAKERS.

Today we honor the first Latina and Cuban American elected to the United States Congress, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and her unrelenting drive to better serve the public and advocate for, among many things, improved education programs.

From not knowing a word of English when her family sought refuge in the U.S. to serving her third decade as a Congresswoman, Ros-Lehtinen is a living example of her own words of inspiration:

"Don't think of everything that could go wrong. Think of everything that can go right."
