Michelle Obama Got a Sweet Birthday Tweet From POTUS

You may have noticed a dark cloud looming over the White House lately — and no we don't mean the rainy weather in D.C. Many hearts are breaking over the departure of Barack and Michelle Obama (and Sasha and Malia) from the White House this Friday and have taken to ugly-crying over nostalgic First Family-related content. Luckily, Michelle Obama's birthday is here to bring some sunshine…until Barack went and posted the sweetest damn tweet ever in honor of Michelle's birthday.

FLOTUS turned 53 this week, and as usual, her husband jumped at the chance to express his adoration for her and set the bar even higher for nationwide #RelationshipGoals.

"To the girl from the South Side who took on a role she didn't ask for and made it her own: Happy Birthday, Michelle. I love you," he wrote.

He accompanied the tweet with an adorable photo captured behind-the-scenes at his inaugural ball on January 20, 2009.

The photo, taken by White House photographer Pete Souza, pretty much encapsulates the couple's relationship.

Barack mentions the South Side of Chicago, where the First Lady grew up. You may remember that the neighborhood was in the title of the 2016 film "Southside With You," which chronicles the couple's first date.

The tweet follows another example of President Obama raving about the First Lady. In his farewell address last week, he wiped tears from his eyes after expressing his admiration for the FLOTUS. He told her,

Michelle – for the past 25 years, you’ve been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend. You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You’ve made me proud. You’ve made the country proud.

Even though the Obamas are moving out of the White House, we suspect Barack will continue to show his love for Michelle every chance he gets.
