Read Model Gigi Hadid's Empowering Message On Body Positivity

Gigi Hadid is arguably one of the world's most influential and "social" models at the moment.

With 6.5 million followers on Instagram alone, Hadid's social presence is a powerhouse.

Now, Hadid is using her expansive platform to speak out on body acceptance and bullying on social media.

With Paris Fashion Week well underway, Hadid Instagrammed a body positive note to address the growing number of negative comments left on her page regarding her "atypical" look as a runway or couture model.

"No I don't have the same body type as the other models in shows. No I don't think I'm the best at any given show. I represent a body image that wasn't accepted in high-fashion before."

Though Hadid reinstated that she tries to ignore the comments, it gets hard to suppress the criticism, even when your confidence and self-esteem is in check.

"Yes, judgment on social media comes from people, who 99 percent of the time, have no idea what they're talking about, but I'm human, and I'm not going to lie, I did let the negativity get to me a little."

Hadid continued on to remind the critics that she's quite comfortable in her body — as she should be — regardless of their cruel body shaming.

"Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body. If I didn't have the body I do, I would've have the career I do. I love that I can be sexy. I'm proud of it."

The model of the moment also shut down the naysayers who've been quick to attribute Hadid's success to her connections with famous friends, like Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, rather than hard work.

"You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I'm a hard worker that's confident in myself."

When all is said and done, Hadid reminds us that acknowledging the moments of discouragement and doubt is not only a healthy process but also completely normal.
