Play like a girl with football star Sam Gordon
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association highlighted Sam Gordon--a girl who plays football against the boys--as one of their Faces of Fearless in this incredible video:
You may have seen her on TV after her highlight reel went viral - millions did. But the true story of the gridiron's toughest 10-year-old has yet to be told. Get to know Sam, her father and what it means to Live Fearless.
Today 10-year-old Sam talks about being the fierce and fearless role model she has become for other girls (and boys) in sports.
When asked about her favorite part of The MAKERS Conference, Sam shared that she loved "listening to all these stories ... it is so interesting to hear how [the speakers] all stood up for themselves and accomplished all of this."
Sam's dad, Brent Gordon, shares what he thinks makes Sam so successful: "Her confidence is something that helps her out. When she went out there on the field, she felt comfortable. ... That confidence made all the boys on the team look up to her as their leader. … If you think about an image that I think is really powerful, it’s Sam as the team captain, and she has 20 boys in front of her."
Sam has helped redefine what it means to “play like a girl.” Since we have Sam with us, let’s share with her what we think “play like a girl” means in 2014. Tweet at Sam using #MAKERS2014 with your answer!
