Rihanna Continues to Make Bold Philanthropic Moves
Singing sensation Rihanna is making headlines recently with her charitable and humanitarian efforts.
In her most recent philanthropic effort, she has "built a state-of-the-art center for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer... in Bridgetown, Barbados," "founded a nonprofit, the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program... and supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project."
For these reasons and more, the Harvard Foundation recognized Robyn Rihanna Fenty as the 2017 Harvard Humanitarian of the Year, for which she was awarded the Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award on Tuesday.
"All you need to do is help one person, expecting nothing in return," Rihanna stated in her acceptance speech. "To me, that is a humanitarian."
Rihanna has also recently teamed up with Dior to help raise money for the Clara Lionel Foundation, which aids "in the fight against injustice, inequality, and poverty, access to education and health is our most powerful weapon."
This team effort ensures that from now through May 15, a portion of the proceeds of the fashion brand's $710 "We Should All Be Feminists" T-shirts will benefit the charity.
