See 2016's Golden Globe Nominations

See who made the cut for this year's awards, which will be handed out live on January 10.

The nominations for the 2016 Golden Globes Awards, awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, were announced Thursday morning by Angela Bassett, Chloe Grace Moretz, America Ferrera, and Dennis Quaid.

The winners will be announced in a live televised ceremony on January 10, hosted by Ricky Gervais. This year will be the first since 2012 that is not hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, but Gervais is no stranger to the stage; next year will be his fourth time as host.

At last year's awards the big winners were "Boyhood" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel," even though "Birdman" went on to win the best picture Oscar. Many of last year's nominees, including Eddie Redmayne, Steve Carell, Helen Mirren, and Emily Blunt, were in the running for nominations this year as well.

The Golden Globes are the glitziest awards ceremony before the Oscars, and often perceived to be more of a party than a serious awards event, but they can impact the Oscar race as well; Redmayne's heartfelt acceptance speech last year for "The Theory of Everything" was widely seen as boosting his campaign, and eventually helping him win the best actor Oscar.
