StyleList Reports From the "MAKERS: Women Who Make America" Red Carpet

Our sister site StyleList was on the red carpet for the MAKERS: Women Who Make America premiere at Lincoln Center last night. Here's what they had to say!

After countless hours of filming and interviews, a sneak preview of MAKERS: Women Who Make America premiered in New York City at  Lincoln Center Wednesday night. The event, hosted by skincare brand Simple, AOL, and PBS brought together some of the most influential women in the women's movement including Gloria Steinem, Katie Couric, Diane English, and Letty Pogrebin (to name a few!).

The documentary, narrated by Meryl Streep, takes a look back at the history of the women's movement over the last half-century, and celebrates women pioneers in their fields.

Gloria Steinem, one of the films biggest advocates told StyleList, "The film is a symbol of where we have come as women, but there is still so much more [we can be doing] and I hope this documentary is the start of more movements, more passion, and more women having their voices heard."

Walking the red carpet included friends & MAKERS, Barbara Smith and Faith Ringgold. We spotted both wearing a splash of sequins: Faith wearing red, sequin UGG boots and Barbara wearing a black sequin top. Both women expressed their excitement for the films premiere and the hope that the film will inspire young women.

Also in attendance was HBO Girls star and Simple brand ambassador, Allison Williams. Williams recently signed on with the skin care line in February. "It is an honor to be here tonight with so many incredible women," Williams told StyleList. When asked if she had any advice for young women striving to be a groundbreaker, Williams responded, "I'd tell them to take their time and relax. No one has it all figured out and it's not about putting pressure on yourself to be perfect quite yet, I'm still figuring it out!"

“MAKERS: Women Who Make America” premieres on PBS on February 26th, and the digital collection, where new videos will continue to be added, can be found at
