These Three Women Saw a Community Need--and Stepped in to Serve

Last month, we celebrated the winners of the first-ever Roslyn S. Jaffe Awards, recognizing everyday heroes that empower women and children. Roslyn S. Jaffe is co-founder of the first dressbarn store in 1962, a long-time advocate for women and children, and a figureheard for Ascena Retail Group. Ascena gave grand-prize winner Aza Nedhari $100,000 to continue her work at Mamatoto Village, while the leaders of The Sparrow’s Nest and The Coffee Connection/Project Empower received $25,000. 

These winners will be honored at a luncheon hosted by journalist Soledad O’Brien on October 23. To broaden the reach of each story before then, Ascena Group has created short profile videos. Meet three women who are giving back to their communities in conscious, impactful ways, and get inspired:
