These Women Just Made Significant Donations to the ACLU

In response to President Donald Trump's executive order made on Friday, setting out ban predominantly Muslim immigration and travel to the U.S., the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has received a significant spike in donations.

The organization, which typically raises about $4 million each year, now has more than $24 million in contributions, according to Fortune.

Though the rise in investments comes from many prominent investors like Chris Sacca, many from Hollywood have also showed up for the cause, matching donations in large numbers to compensate the organization responsible for temporarily suspending Trump's executive order.

Many of these starlets are prominent women of the industry, too. Sia decided to match the first $100,000 donated. Her donation was quickly followed by celebrities like Rosie O’Donnell, Sarah Paulson, Grimes, and more.

Paulson specifically gave the ACLU a big shoutout at the SAG Awards, using her acceptance speech for her role in, "The People vs. O.J. Simpson," to encourage people to donate to the organization.

"Protect the rights and liberties of people across this country," Paulson said.
