Carly Fiorina Announces 2016 Presidential Bid
The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina, announced Monday that she is running in the 2016 presidential election. This makes her the first female candidate to officially run for the Republican Party.

Fiorina made history as the first woman CEO of a Fortune 20 company during her time at Hewlett-Packard. She began making waves in Republican politics in 2010 when she ran for U.S. Senate and lost to incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer by 10 points.
Although her campaign platform is still coming into focus, Fiorina has spoken out against President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy and on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, reports The Huffington Post. She has questioned donations made to the Clinton family’s charitable foundation and her accomplishments during Clinton’s time as secretary of state.
Fiorina believes that her heavy background in business will give her an edge in the election despite her lack of experience serving in public office.
“Realistically, everything about me is different than anybody else running,” she said to Bloomberg Politics. “My experience is different, my resume is different, my perspective is different, my voice is different. Oh, by the way, my gender is different.”
