As the General Manager for WW Sales Operations & Strategy at Microsoft Advertising & Online, Valerie Beaulieu is at the heart of the consumer strategy for Microsoft: monetization of Microsoft consumer services (MSN, Skype, Xbox, Windows 8, Bing…), business planning & strategy and sales excellence, and solution management for the entire advertising group around the world.
Prior to moving to a global role in the US, Valerie was Director for Monetization of the advertising assets in EMEA. During her 17 year tenure with Microsoft, Valerie has held a number of senior positions both in Sales & Marketing, most notably Sales Director for the small & medium business in the French subsidiary for 5 years and Director for Partner Marketing, building the Partner engagement model for Microsoft EMEA as well as driving the early days of Microsoft Mobile engagement in Europe.
A true “Tom Boy” when she was a child, passionate about sailing & leading teams, she started her career as a journalist. But telling stories of others achieving great things was not enough, she wanted more, driving business impact, changing the world. And she moved her way up: joining the technology industry and Microsoft where her listening skills coupled with a great sense of synthesis did magic to solve problems and drive change. As she grew in the organization she felt she had to share back her experience with other women so that they could also flourish and bloom. And today she spends much of her time mentoring women at Microsoft and acts as the active sponsor of the Global Advertising Women’s Group.
Valerie is French and moved to the Seattle area in 2012. She graduated with an English Masters Degree and International Sales Degree. She is married with two children and has a passion for sailing & cooking.
