As Head of Field Management for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, Shelley O’Connor oversees a nationwide network of 16,000 financial advisors in over 650 branch offices that provide a wide range of financial products and services to individuals, businesses and institutions. Shelley serves on the Operating Committee of Morgan Stanley and is a member of the Executive Committee of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. A strong supporter of women in the workplace, she is also actively engaged in helping the firm develop new programs to attract and advance women in financial services.
Over a 30-year career that began as an assistant in a Morgan Stanley branch office in San Francisco, Shelley went on to hold a succession of leadership and senior management positions at the Firm. Prior to assuming her current role in February 2014, she was Chief Executive Officer of Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association, which provides banking and lending services as part of Morgan Stanley’s comprehensive wealth management offering, including a nationwide network of private bankers who partner with Morgan Stanley financial advisors to provide services such as mortgages, securities-based loans and tailored lending.
From 2006 to 2010, she served as Chief Administrative Officer for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management with direct responsibility for Global Risk Management, Technology and Operations, and coordination of initiatives across Legal and Compliance, Corporate Communications, Human Resources and Corporate Services functions. From 2004 to 2006, she served as Chief Operating Officer of the US Client Coverage Group. Prior to that, she spent 20 years in the Wealth Management branch organization in a succession of increasingly senior and leadership roles, ultimately serving as Southwest Regional Manager for the Firm's Private Wealth Management business.
Shelley earned a B.A. from The University of California, San Diego. She and her husband Joe live in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
