Taryn Sievers is a Family Wealth Director and Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley. An enthusiastic and persevering proponent of women colleagues and clients over her thirty year career, Taryn has worked tirelessly to champion women in the arena of money and finance.
Currently managing over $685 million in assets for high net worth individuals and their families, she has always been in the Oakland, California branch where she began her career in 1984. So that her clients can achieve their goals, preserve and grow their wealth and their family legacy, Taryn’s focus is providing custom and comprehensive financial solutions.
Taryn has been recognized by Barron’s as one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisors in the country as well as by the San Francisco Business Times in both their Top 75 San Francisco Bay Area Financial Advisors and their Top 25 Bay Area Women Financial Advisors lists. Recently, she was named as a Top Wealth Manager in San Francisco by Diablo Magazine and on the FT Top 400 Advisor list. Taryn has earned the exclusive Family Wealth Director designation held by less than 1% of the firm’s financial advisors, meaning that she has completed the most comprehensive and rigorous wealth management training on Wall Street.
She taught popular evening investment classes that she specifically designed for women throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for over twenty years. Taryn has lectured extensively on investment and economic topics for many well-known community and charitable organizations and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal.
Financial independence has a personal meaning to Taryn as she learned early in life the security that money can bring. Born in Northern California, the eldest of five children, she spent her formative years both on the eastern seaboard and in the San Francisco East Bay. After graduating from California State University, Chico with Bachelors’ degrees both in Finance and Journalism in 1983, Taryn began her career at Dean Witter Reynolds, which merged with Morgan Stanley in 1997.
Taryn completed The Wharton School of Executive Education Program at the University of Pennsylvania in 1998, was selected to participate in the 1997-98 Morgan Stanley Women’s Business Exchange Mentoring Pilot, and completed the firm’s management training program in 1991. She has been recognized for creating successful and unique meetings and events that educate women in the community about money management.
Her philanthropic interests include Oakland Children’s Hospital, Catholic Charities, Diablo Scholarship Foundation, The Taylor Family Foundation and The Athenian School Parents Association.
Taryn lives in Diablo, California with her husband and their two middle school children. Active in their community, lacrosse & swim teams, they are also working on their family goal to visit all 50 states before their daughter and son complete high school.
