Executive Director, Marketing Operations

Abby Knowles is the executive director for Market Operations in the Verizon Great Lakes Market. In addition to leading the network team that ensures the wireless network reliability and uptime, she also partners with the market sales and marketing teams to ensure the network supports the needs of Verizon’s customers. Prior to this role, Abby was the network regional executive director for Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia where she led the network organization that designed, built and operated the Verizon wireless network. She ensured industry-leading network strategies met the growing wireless needs of customers through aggressive deployment of new technologies (small cells and LTE Advanced), RF design and optimization, and a focus on daily operational excellence. Abby is a leader in a highly technical and fiercely competitive communications industry. She leads, inspires, and organizes teams to deliver excellent results for the business. Accomplishments include leading departmental turn-around, and developing strategic plans that drive network growth and performance improvements. She is specialized in leading collaborative efforts both internally and externally, resulting in innovative technical solutions and advancements. Outside of Verizon, Abby is active within the community she serves. She currently serves as the Chair of the Rise Sister Rise Network in Columbus, Ohio, focused on placing Black Girls At Promise. Other community activities include Somerville Board of Education Curriculum Committee (NJ), National Academy Foundation (NAF) Schools (NJ), The Hiding Place halfway home for women (MD), and speaker with the Maryland Business Roundtable. Abby received her Master’s of Science, Information and Telecom Systems for Business from the John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland. Her Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering was received from Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland. She also earned a Master’s Certificate, Project Management from Georgetown University.

Sasha Lucas

Director of Digital Customer Engagement Strategy

As Director of Digital Customer Engagement Strategy, Sasha Lucas is responsible for the evolution and growth of consumer engagement across social, mobile, and emerging digital platforms for Verizon Fios Internet, TV, and voice products. With a focus on customer care and servicing, her team is charged with engineering innovative and meaningful experiences for over 9MM consumers that interact with the Verizon brand each day. Prior to her current role, Sasha spent 8 years at Citigroup where she was responsible for Digital Customer Experience Strategy, focused on utilizing consumer data and insights to deliver comprehensive end-to-end user experiences. She also served as the Head of Digital Usage and Engagement for Citibank NA, leading development and execution of cross-channel marketing for digital and customer self-service for the retail bank and credit card divisions. Sasha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Master’s in Business in Administration (M.B.A.) from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
Jean McManus
Jean McManus

Executive Director, Emerging Technologies

Jean McManus is the executive director of Emerging Technologies in Verizon Labs. She is responsible for product innovation with emerging technologies. She also is responsible for a product proof of concept lab in Irving, Texas. For more than 20 years, Jean has held both management and technical positions at Verizon in IP architecture, metro Ethernet architecture, network security, VoIP design, and optical network architecture. Early in her career, Jean worked at GTE Government Systems (formerly Contel Federal Systems) as a systems and security engineer. Jean was recognized by Fierce Telecom as both a 2011 Woman in Wireline and in a series entitled “Six Faces of IPv6” for her leadership at Verizon during the 2011 World IPv6 Day. She regularly champions Women in Tech initiatives within Verizon Labs including Women’s Developer Summits and Women’s Networking Circles. She was profiled in the 2016 book, “The Internet of Women: Accelerating Culture Change.” Jean received her PhD (Systems Engineering) and MSE (Electrical Engineering) from University of Pennsylvania and a BSE (Electrical Engineering) from Duke University. She holds two patents.
