Registries for weddings are widespread, but what about those for sick patients in need? Diem Brown noticed this absence through her own experience with cancer. Her company, MedGift, is the first online medical gift registry.

Diem's Biography

Place of Birth: Germany
Role Models: Katie Couric and Barbara Walters
Childhood Nickname: Danger Mouse
To Her 15-Year-Old Self: "Do your homework."

Diem Brown’s battle with ovarian cancer was caught on camera while she was a cast member on MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat. Through this experience, she became a role model for strength and perseverance. Diem founded the non-profit, MedGift, which is inspired by her experiences as a patient. The organization is the first medical gift registry and is working to change the way the public views health and charity. After going into remission in 2006, the cancer resurfaced in 2011. Diem went into remission again, until the cancer resurfaced again in 2014. Through the battle Diem remained positive, grateful, and supportive of others experiencing similar hardship. Diem passed away in November 2014.
