Kara Swisher felt that coming out gave her more possibilities in both her career and daily life.

Kara's Biography

Ideal Interview Subject: Cleopatra
Message for Young Women: Be authentic.
To Her 15-Year-Old Self: Be more instinctual.
Wedding Day: Her business partner, and fellow journalist, Walter Mossberg, walked her down the aisle when she married her partner.

In her junior year of college at Georgetown University, Kara Swisher became incensed with an article she read in The Washington Post. It was full of errors, even spelling mistakes, and young Swisher decided to take her complaint directly to the office of the paper itself. While there complaining, she was offered a job, kick-staring her career in journalism. In 1997, Swisher began covering digital issues for The Wall Street Journal's San Francisco bureau, writing a regular column, titled "Boomtown," about the growing technology sector.
Along with Walter Mossberg, she co-produces and co-hosts D: All Things Digital, a major high-tech conference that has included high-profile interviewees like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and other leading players in the tech industry. She is the author of aol.com: How Steve Case beat Bill Gates, Nailed the Netheads and Made Millions in the War for the Web, published by Times Business Books in July 1998. Its sequel There must be a Pony in Here Somewhere: The AOL Time Warner Debacle and the Quest for a Digital Future, was published in 2003. She is the Co-Executive Editor of All Things D, a website devoted to news, analysis and opinion on technology, the Internet and media.
