Emmy-nominated filmmaker and Webby Awards founder Tiffany Shlain is one of Newsweek's "women shaping the 21st century," and is on NPR's list of Best Commencement Speeches, Ever. Four of Tiffany's films have premiered at Sundance, including her feature documentary, "Connected: An Autoblogography about Love, Death & Technology." Her AOL original series "The Future Starts Here," explores humanity and technology through topics ranging from creativity to neuroscience, has received over 40 million views and was nominated for an Emmy Award in the category New Approaches: Arts, Lifestyle, Culture. The US State Department selected three of Shlain’s films ("Connected," "Brain Power: From Neurons to Networks," and "The Science of Character") to represent America at Embassy screenings around the world for their American FIlm Showcase. Tiffany is a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and runs both a film studio (The Moxie Institute Film Studio) and a nonprofit (Let It Ripple: Mobile FIlms for Global Change) in San Francisco. The nonprofit host a global free event called "Character Day" which provides schools and organizations free films and resources on character education. Over 6700 schools were involved this year on Character Day Sept 18, 2015. Tiffany just premiered two new films this Character Day: "The Adaptable Mind" & "The Making of a Mensch." Next Character Day will happen September, 2016. Tiffany is the author of the TEDBook “Brain Power: From Neurons to Networks” and writes a quarterly newsletter "Breakfast @ Tiffany's." Although a pioneer in technology, she and her family for the past five years unplug each week for what they call their Technology Shabbats.
