One of Zooey Deschanel's favorite things to do is prove people wrong. After all, only you know what you're truly capable of.

Zooey's Biography

Born & Raised:Los Angeles. "I also lived a lot of different places because my parents traveled for work. So I lived in London, and I lived in Yugoslavia, and the Islands."
Most Influential Woman Growing Up:My mother.
One Woman to Interview:Joni Mitchell and Carol King. "It'a tie."
Patient or Impatient:Impatient

Zooey Deschanel is an actress and musician currently starring on FOX's hit comedy series "New Girl." Playing the title role Jess Day, Deschanel proves that a woman can be quirky, cute, feminine and yet still be strong and intelligent. In 2012, she earned an Emmy Award nomination for the show.

Raised by parents who had followed their dreams in the movie industry, Deschanel grew up with the support to follow her dreams as well. Always comfortable on stage, she began driving herself to auditions as soon as she got her driver's license.

Since landing her first role in a feature film, "Mumford," Deschanel has gone on to star in big-budget movies including 2004's "Elf" and has also become a darling of hit independent films like the "(500) Days of Summer."

Deschanel is one half of music duo She & Him. The group released their first self-titled album in 2008 and two years later, She & Him, Volume 2 came out.
