Women On Top: The 2015 Emmy Nominations

Congratulations to all of the Emmy nominees this year!

Over the past year, many female driven shows and outstanding women characters have been spotlighted on television. Tina Fey's Netflix series "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Veep" starring Julia-Louis Dreyfus are up against "Louie," "Modern Family," "Silicon Valley" and "Transparent" for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Women are taking over drama as well with as the breakthrough female driven Netflix series "Orange is the New Black" is a nominee for Outstanding Drama Series among "Better Call Saul," "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland," "House of Cards," and "Mad Men."

While these actresses are clearly having a moment right now, there are awesome women who work behind the scenes who have also been acknowledged. 

Lesli Linka Glatter of "Homeland" is the only woman nominated in the "Directing for a Drama Series" category, while Jill Soloway of "Transparent" is a nominee in both the Writing for a Comedy Series and Directing for a Comedy Series categories.
