Amber Tamblyn Says a Third "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" Movie Is "Definitely" Happening

It's really happening: A third "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movie is definitely in the works, and we cannot contain our excitement. The last time we saw the magical jeans-sharing sisterhood — Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, and America Ferrera — on the big screen together was when the second installment hit theaters in 2008.

And last year, Ferrera got our hopes way up when she admitted on "The Meredith Vieira Show" that a reunion could happen: "There's no green light, but it's definitely in the works," she revealed. "There is a script being written. They're my girls — three of my best friends to this day." Ferrera also had revealed to People last year that the third movie would be based on the fifth book in the series. "What's wonderful about it is, and the series to begin with, is that it's really raw and honest about friendship and how hard it can be and how it changes as you grow up."

And, well, nothing else had been said about a third movie, until now. Tamblyn confirmed that the movie is still happening: "I have no information about [a release date], but I can obviously tell you that something is definitely in the works," she said over the weekend while promoting her new film — and directorial debut — "Paint It Black" at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Ferrera was even there to cheer her friend on, posting this proud moment on Instagram:

So, here's what we think: It's a no-brainer that these girls are excited to reunite for a new "Sisterhood" movie. They've stayed real-life best friends — Lively even named them all godmothers to her daughter, James. But patience is everything here. Lively is pregnant with her second child and Bledel, who also had a (secret) baby recently, is busy gearing up for the long-awaited release of "Gilmore Girls: Seasons." But once things settle down, we hope shooting will start right away.

With the news that "Princess Diaries 3" is in the works too, we're feeling all sorts of nostalgic lately.
