Beyoncé Raises $82K for Residents of Flint, Michigan

As if Bey wasn't queen of just about everything already, she has proven herself worthy of the crown yet again — this time by keeping her "Flint initiative" promise with the presentation of an $82,234 check to the United Way of Genesee County. She awarded the check the day before her concert in Detroit on Tuesday.

Announced in April of this year, the Formation concert at Ford Field is set to be just one of the three "signature charity event" stops on the "Lemonade" singer's tour — the other two are Houston and Los Angeles. But the funds would not have been raised without the help of her fans. While buying their concert tickets, they were given the option to contribute to Bey's Flint fund on CrowdRise, a contribution with an incentive to win VIP tickets.

Thanks to both Bey and her fans, this money will help Flint residents deal with the tainted water supply devastating their city. And along with the hefty donation, Bey also gave "college gifts" to 14 high school students from the Detroit area to help them with future educational expenses.
