Drew Barrymore Reveals She Had Postpartum Depression After Second Child

By Marissa Gold

In an interview with People this week, Drew Barrymore discusses how much she enjoys being a mom to daughter Olive, three, and Frankie, 18 months, her two daughters with husband Will Kopelman.

But the 40-year-old mom and actress also revealed, like Hayden Panettiere, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many other moms, that she experienced postpartum depression — specifically with baby number two.

"I didn't have postpartum the first time so I didn't understand it because I was like, 'I feel great!' The second time, I was like, 'Oh, whoa, I see what people talk about now. I understand,'" she told the magazine. "It's a different type of overwhelming with the second. I really got under the cloud."

Barrymore says the postpartum was "short-lived, probably six months." Hopefully by hearing so many high-profile moms like Drew speak out about this condition, other moms feel less alone and more empowered to speak up and seek the treatment they need. We wish Barrymore well, and it seems she's back to feeling like her old self again:
