Gabrielle Giffords Pens Powerful Letter On Gun Control for House Sit-In

Nearly two years after she was shot in the head at a "Congress On Your Corner" event in her state, former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and husband Mark Kelly founded Americans for Responsible Solutions "to encourage elected officials to stand up for safer communities."

Yesterday, during the sit-in at the House as part of the #NoBillNoBreak movement, Giffords gave Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz a letter to read aloud, encouraging others to sign it as well.

As Giffords says in her tweet, she was not silenced, "It's been said that hope was forged of two powerful ingredients: anger at how things are, and the courage to change them. We will not be driven backwards to live in isolation from one another and in fear of violence."

Read Giffords' post for the full letter and watch her empowering MAKERS story in the video player above.
