Hakuna Matata! Disney Is Remaking "The Lion King"

From "Maleficent" to "Beauty and the Beast," a plethora of Linda Woolverton's classic Disney hits have been or are being remade with star-studded casts. And get ready for the next big remake.

On Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company officially announced that Jon Favreau will direct "a new reimagining of 'The Lion King,'" another Woolverton standout.

As one of the biggest animated films of all time, with a lifetime global box office gross of $968.8 million, "The Lion King" has won numerous Academy Awards, Grammys, and Tony Awards.

And based off of its continued success (and that of many Disney remakes), it seems guaranteed that it will win many more once the remake is released.
