"Hidden Figures" Wins Outstanding Performance By a Cast at SAG Awards

On Sunday night, Hollywood celebrated Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson, and more as "Hidden Figures" took home the SAG Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.

"This film is about unity," Taraji P. Henson said upon receiving the award. "The shoulders of the women that we stand on are there American heroes: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson. Without them, we would not know how to reach the stars."

Her sentiment echoed the message many Americans are resonating with in wake of the election — that unity and progress is possible.

"These women did not complain about the problems, the issues the circumstances. They focused on solutions," Henson continued.

"This story is about what happens when we put our differences aside, and we come together as a human race," she concluded. "We win. Love wins every time.... They are hidden figures no more!"

The cast won the award over "Captain Fantastic," "Fences," "Manchester by the Sea," and "Moonlight" at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.
