Hollywood Stars Wore Blue Ribbons to the Oscars for This Incredible Reason

"Who ever thought we'd be fashion icons?" the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) tweeted during the 89th Academy Awards:

The fashion statement they were referring to happened to be a small, blue ribbon pinned to the top of gowns and tuxedo lapels worn by celebrities like Oscar-nominated Ruth Negga of "Loving," Emma Stone of "La La Land," and Lin Manuel Miranda of the Oscar-nominated "Moana."

Showing their support of the ACLU by wearing the pin as part of the "Stand With ACLU" initiative, these stars made a statement whose meaning extends beyond designer names and brand collaborations.
