Here's How Some Influential Women Are Helping with Louisiana Flood Relief Efforts

Historic flooding in Louisiana has left 20,000 residents without homes and at least 11 people dead.

The state was hit with nearly 2 feet of rain in 48 hours and Gov. John Bel Edwards declared a state of emergency in the wake of the disaster.

Taylor Swift has since donated $1 million to the Louisiana flood relief program. She told the Associated Press, "We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking."

Lady Gaga also shared a tweet to announce that she, too, would donate to the victims of the flood.

We hope this will encourage others to show their support as well. Here's how you can volunteer or donate money to the Salvation Army's Gulf Coast fund to help the cause.
