#YourBodyRules: 7 Inspirational Celebrity Instagrams

In an era where the selfie reigns queen, standards on beauty and appearance are shifting from the hands of the media and advertisers to those of the consumers.

Luckily, there has been a surge of motivational beauty campaigns that are pushing to expand and redefine the definition of beauty by encouraging women to embrace and celebrate themselves from the inside out.

Celebrities in particular undergo intense scrutiny for the way they look both on and off the screen. From body shaming to photoshopped magazine covers, famous women fall victim to this vicious cycle more than men.

But rather than criticize, we shoud celebrate. We applaud these seven famous women for taking to their online social profiles to dispel myths of perfection. They're expanding the definition of beauty and body acceptance all in the name of self-love and well-being.

Dubbed one of the most influential voices for millennial women, Lena Dunham openly advocates for women's rights and health, with self-care being a big topic of interest for the co-creator of HBO series, Girls. Dunham uses her position of influence to openly share her views on the importance of self-care — whatever form that may take.

Social media rockstar, supermodel, cook enthusiast and wife to singer John Legend, Chrissy Teigen does not shy away from baring (and eating) it all on Instagram— even when it comes to introducing her stretch marks to her almost 3 million followers.

One look at history-making ballerina Misty Copeland's Instagram and you'll instantly be motivated to get moving. Even her stellar shots for her Under Armour campaign #IWILLWHATIWANT leave fans and followers in awe of her jaw-dropping flexibility and strength. However, Copeland will be the first to let onlookers know that "cute" is the word most removed from any professional ballerina's rigorous training.

From the White House to the gym, First Lady Michelle Obama never holds back when it comes to persevering and giving it her all. For her 'Let's Move' campaign, Obama hit the fitness streets of Instagram with the hashtag #GimmeFive (accompanied by one killer workout) to challenge Americans to prioritize exercise for overall well-being.

Can you #GimmeFive, FLOTUS-style? If you're new to these workouts, make sure you have a coach or a parent around to show you the ropes.

A self-proclaimed boxing enthusiast, Rodriguez shares snippets of her workouts with her fans showing how much a challenge can push one’s fortitude — mentally, emotionally and physically.

Self-proclaimed shopping addict, writer and actress Mindy Kaling showcases her daily outfits and glamours gowns on her Instagram, with the occasional photos of guilty pleasure’s like red Starbursts. Notably, she showed off this monokini and emphasized that it’s a suit that everyone can wear, shutting down dubious claims of swimsuits suiting certain body types.

WNBA pioneer, wife and mother Lisa Leslie uses her Instagram to document beautiful captures of everything from her children and husband to her #30DaystoTransformation challenge, but at the end of the day, Leslie knows the importance of shining with #nomakeup, touchups or filters.
