Introducing Julia: The 4-Year-Old Muppet With Autism Making "Sesame Street" History

For the first time in at least a decade, "Sesame Street" has officially come out with another muppet, and she's making history.

Julia, the first-ever muppet with autism, is "a shy and winsome 4 year old, with striking red hair and green eyes [who] likes to paint and pick flowers," NPR reports.

On a mission to raise awareness about the commonality of autism (1 in 68 American children have autism, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control), "Sesame Street" has begun a campaign around Julia to encourage followers to "See Amazing in All Children."

Through this campaign, those who have autism or know someone with it can identify with Julia, who is set to make her television debut on April 10.
