Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan and Others Nominated For Induction Into the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Organizers have recently announced this year’s nominated class for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 15 finalists includes: 

  1. Janet Jackson
  2. Chaka Khan 
  3. The Smiths
  4. Chic 
  5. Nine Inch Nails
  6. N.W.A.
  7. The Cars
  8. Chicago
  9. Deep Purple
  10. Cheap Trick
  11. Steve Miller
  12. The Spinners 
  13. Los Lobos 
  14. Yes
  15. The J.B.’s

This is the first time nomination for both Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson. Jackson is currently performing on tour and has a new album at the beginning of October called "Unbreakable." Khan has won 10 Grammy awards, sold over 70 million records worldwide and will compete on season 21 of "Dancing With the Stars." For consideration, eligible acts most be nominated 25 years after the release of their first recording, album or single. The public has until December 9th to vote for the final round of inductees. The remaining five acts will be voted on by a “fans’ ballot,” 800 artists, historians and music industry professionals.
