Jessica Alba Among 40 Wealthiest Self-Made Women in the U.S.

Actress Jessica Alba is listed among the 40 wealthiest self-made women in the country.

The Honest Company, the nontoxic household products startup co-founded by Alba, announced on Friday that it had closed $100 million in Series D financing, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The company is valued at more than $1.7 billion.

According to the Wall Street Journal report, the company's new value brings Alba's net worth to approximately $340 million, which puts her onto Forbes' list of America's richest self-made women.

This places Alba higher on the list than Beyoncé Knowles, whose net worth is $250 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Alba is tied on the Forbe's list with best-selling novelist Nora Roberts and Texas oil mogul Kathy Lehne.

If the company goes public, as it is expected to, the Wall Street Journal reports that Alba could soon be part of the billionaires’ club.

Alba owns about a 20 percent stake in the company, which originally started out selling diapers and baby wipes online.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Honest Company plans to use the new capital to grow its Honesty Beauty line of skin care, cosmetics, and hair care products.
