Katie Couric and Julia Louis-Dreyfus Talk "Veep" in a Presidential Suite

Ahead of her return to power as President Selina Meyer in Season 4 of "Veep" on HBO, Julia Louis-Dreyfus sat down in the Presidential Suite at the Waldorf-Astoria with fellow MAKER, Katie Couric, to discuss the award-winning comedy series.

An interview about Selina Meyer and "Veep" isn't complete without humorous commentary, and Louis-Dreyfus delivered, per usual, discussing the real-life political issues the show predicts and what it's like to age in front of an audience.

Louis-Dreyfus has a knack for portraying memorable characters, from Elaine Benes in "Seinfeld" to Christine Campbell in "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Selina Meyer marks her third successful television character. Louis-Dreyfus notes that finally, TV is providing diverse roles for more women her age, particularly praising her fellow trailblazers Robin Wright in "House of Cards" and Kate Mulgrew in "Orange is the New Black."

Louis-Dreyfus wrapped up the interview by challenging new presidential candidate Paul Rand's campaign slogan--with a Selina Meyer twist: "You know what Selina Meyer's campaign slogan is? Continuity with change."

We hope Louis-Dreyfus' own campaign slogan is something of the same, because we just want more JLD, in lots of different roles! Watch the full Katie Couric interview here, and get more of her perspectives in her MAKERS video:
