What Katie Couric's New Yahoo! Deal Really Means

Katie Couric's new deal with Yahoo! will make her among one of the top paid women in the news industry.

Her $4 million raise, which puts her annual earnings at $10 million, is a pay package in line with that of suspended NBC "Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams.

But what will her new responsibilities entail?

The contract ensures that the TV-turned-Internet journalist will continue to host news-making short videos to be featured on Yahoo!'s homepage. She will continue to host exclusive interviews with high-profile guests.

'We can confirm that Katie continues to be Yahoo!'s global news anchor. We don't comment on rumors, speculation or personnel matters," Yahoo! told CNN Money.

Couric signed with Yahoo! in late 2013 in an effort by CEO Marissa Mayer to convince advertisers that the Internet giant was a true media destination. Learn more about Couric’s journey in journalism by watching her MAKERS video above.
