#LeanInTogether Celebrates Men Who Support Equality

MAKERS is excited to play a part in LeanIn.org’s campaign #LeanInTogether, which encourages men to show they’re for equality and asks women to celebrate men leaning in.

“Men should support their wives and daughters at home and their female colleagues in the workplace, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s great for them,” said Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO and founder of LeanIn.Org. “From stronger marriages and healthier, happier children to better outcomes at work, the benefits of men leaning in for equality are huge.”

Many of our MAKERS talk about how their husbands and fathers have supported them in their achievements. When she got her first “good” job in DC, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s husband left his successful law practice in New York so he could be with his wife. Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund, says her father always “made me believe that I could be anything, and do anything.” We’ve gathered these stories and more—from Hillary Clinton, to Lena Dunham—to show the positive impact men can have in powerful women’s lives.
