"The road was new to me, as roads always are, going back." - Sarah Orne Jewett

As we turn the corner into December, we look back on 2013 and reflect on the road we traveled.

It's been an incredibly exciting year for MAKERS and women in general. In February, our three-hour documentary on the last 50 years of the women's movement, MAKERS: Women Who Make America, premiered on PBS and by August we hit a major milestone: 200 trailblazing women's stories on

There were also huge moments to reflect on outside of MAKERS. On Capitol Hill, the 113th Congress opened with a record number of women; Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff became the first female co-anchor team on a network broadcast; the most women directors ever were nominated for Emmys; President Obama appointed Christine Fox as acting Deputy Defense Secretary making her the senior-most woman to hold a DoD post... the milestone moments from 2013 are too numerous to include in one article.

While December is a month to reflect on the past, it's also a time to take what we've learned and continue making big steps forward. MAKERS will continue forward by adding to our incredible collection of women's stories with new documentary stay tuned!
