This Supermodel Just Made History at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Supermodel Maria Borges' third time strutting down the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday was unlike the previous shows.

The Angolan supermodel debuted her natural hair, cropped and styled — making history as the first black model to rock an afro on the Victoria's Secret runway.

"I told my agent I wanted to walk in the Victoria's Secret show with my natural hair," Borges told Essence. "I was nervous, but I had to do it. When they said 'yes,' I didn't expect it, but I was so happy!”

Borges revealed the news tagging her photos on social media with the hashtag, #MBmakinghistory

Given that foot-long wave extensions seemed to fit the prototype of all the VSFS models, Borges' decision to forgo the usual extensions created a wave of enthusiasm from all corners of the Internet.

She announced to her fans on Twitter and Instagram that she’d be rocking her natural hair, much to her excitement.

"Tomorrow, this Angolan-born dreamer will be walking her 3rd #VSFS in a row, whilst rocking her Afro natural hair. All I can say is THANK YOU, I don't take it for granted!”
