Martha Is The New Character: A New Inmate Will Join Season 3 Of Orange Is The New Black

Along with the Season 3 premiere approaching on June 12, Orange Is The New Black fans have something else to be excited for. At the TIME 100 Gala, Jenji Kohan announced that a new character inspired by Martha Stewart will be joining the ladies of Litchfield. So far, there isn't any confirmation on who will play the new inmate. The only detail Kohan revealed is that the character will be from the south, TIME reports. This already separates from the real-life Martha, who is a Jersey Girl.

Piper Kerman's memoir, which the Netflix show is based on, mentions that the lifestyle expert almost wound up at Danbury Correctional Institution. This was the real-life inspiration for Litchfield prison. Stewart herself also attended the gala and mentioned she was intrigued, saying, "I'll look at it." While we're super excited to see how this new character will shake things up, we're totally imagining Martha Stewart binge-watching at home.
