Model Ashley Graham Makes History at NYFW

Ashley Graham's launch to model stardom is proof of a monuments shift in body standards in the often exclusive and restricting world of fashion.

A strong advocate for celebrating body diversity in the fashion world, Graham has been the face of numerous campaigns this year, embracing her full-figured frame for the world to see.

Having been the first plus-sized model to appear in Sports Illustrated and Elle Quebec and her Graham’s career moves have been nothing short of groundbreaking — and New York Fashion Week is no exception.

The model appeared in the first-ever plus-size only runway show at NYFW for plus-sized Canadian label AdditionElle — wearing her own lingerie line.

Last summer, Graham partnered with AdditionElle to design her own collection of negligee. The collection will be available for purchase at Nordstrom and AdditionElle next month.

Graham and the other models and plus-size influencers of varying sizes and shapes took over the catwalk, claiming their mark in the annual fashion week that often favors thinner body types.

While people may attach the label of ‘plus-size’ to Graham, she has no intention of making that a household adjective. "It's so exciting that it’s beginning to happen. "We're not being looked at for the number in our pants but for our beautiful forms and our faces, like all models," she stated.
