Fashion Blogger and Model With Muscular Dystrophy Signs With Iconic Agency IMG

Jillian Mercado is the fashion blogger behind Manufactured 1987, and is now officially one of IMG's newest models.

Mercado is no stranger to the fashion or modeling world.

During her time at FIT, she served as a model for friends because she was able to fit into sample size, according to The Wall Street Journal. After that, she appeared in national campaigns for Diesel and Nordstrom, in addition to attending numerous high-profile fashion shows.

IMG's newest model also happens to have muscular dystrophy, and uses a wheelchair to get around.

"She looks great in fashion, and just because she's in a wheelchair is not going to stop that," said Diesel's fashion director, Nicola Formichetti.

The modeling world has been making some pretty huge changes as of late with the welcome addition of Madeline Stewart, a model with down syndrome, making her runway debut at this year's New York Fashion Week. We hope this positive growth continues so more people can be properly represented in fashion.
