PepsiCo Employees Ask CEO Indra Nooyi "Are We Safe?" After Election Results

PepsiCo CEO and MAKER Indra Nooyi spoke at the DealBook Conference on Thursday in New York City and explained how she is doing her best to reassure all of her female employees that everything is going to be okay, despite the election results.

"I had to answer a lot of questions, from my daughters, from my employees, they were all in mourning," Nooyi said, according to Fortune. "Our employees are all crying and the question that they are asking, especially those that are not white: 'Are we safe?' Women are asking, 'Are we safe?' LGBT people are asking, 'Are we safe?' I never thought I'd have had to answer those questions."

Ultimately, Nooyi wants her employees to remember that the election results are simply the process of democracy and "we just have to let life go on."

The influential businesswoman also mentioned that Trump's misogynist discourse and sexist remarks cannot be tolerated.

Although Nooyi did not publicly come forward to support either candidate during the race, she did congratulate President-elect Trump on his win.
